Jacqueline,
The MAD speaker session is 3 minutes and should tell the audience what you do, the benefits of your product/program, and the financial incentive for referral agents to refer you. The next meeting will be June 11-13, 2010. Hope to see you there!
Jacqueline 9:08 pm on January 5, 2010 Permalink
Hi Steve,
I have the following 2 questions:
1) I’d like to get some idea about the 3-minute mad presentation :). What kind of presentation is this: self-introduction, promotion, or a shortened piece of one’s own original speech?
2) When is the next SSN event after the Jan. one?
Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.
Jacqueline

Jason,
Yes, but we only have a few spots left. Submit your audition video (3-5 minutes) to dawn@govesiebold.com

Are you still accepting main stage speakers for January?
Steve Siebold 3:50 pm on September 14, 2009 Permalink
Bill,
We already have 10/20 mainstage speakers booked for January, so submit your audtion video as soon as possible. There’s no deadline, we’ll stop taking auditions when we’re full. Send your video link to dawn@govesiebold.com
Bill 8:10 pm on September 13, 2009 Permalink
It would be helpful to have current information about the January 2010 meeting. Is there a deadline for submitting audition videos? When will decisions be made? Thanks.

Hi Steve,
I listened in on the conference call last night and was very impressed with the speakers. I absolutely love public speaking-only God knows why! I’ve taught in churches on and off for over 15 years and spoke on a few occassions about a book I wrote.
In 2003, I wrote a book for Christian women entitled, “The Incredible Influence of a Woman” to help Christian women with self image issues. It’s not as well written as I would like, but nonetheless, I’ve had a lot of compliments from women who have read it.
Just recently, I’ve started studying different aspects of “Image Consulting” which I find very interesting! Seeing that I needed to lose a few pounds to be the example I would be preaching about, I ordered your “Die Fat” book. Wow! I’ve lost 11 pounds in just a few weeks and have a few more to go.
So all of this brings me to starting a career in Image Consulting. I would like to know what paths you would suggest to get me there! As I stated, I love public speaking and would love to attend the seminar in Atlanta in January, but as yet I’m not sure I’m able!

I am the Kiwiman from New Zealand. How do you see this working for me considering my location and the complication that creates for referals?
Can you outline how this is likely to work across international boarders.

Is it too late to register for Atlanta? Is there a waiting list in case someone can’t make it? The link doesn’t work and I didn’t have a chance to register before now.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Kerrie,
Not to speak for Steve =)
But was able to find an advance rate of $69 directly on hilton.com as long as you pay in full. Don’t know what the group rate will pan out to be but seems like a good discount for this hotel! Hilton Honors also allows you to “double dip” earning miles with most airlines too, so win-win!

JD,
If you’re looking for referrals it would be well worth it. I can’t tell by your question if that’s what you’re looking for. A good percentage of people registered don’t have their programs ready yet, but are attending to begin building referral agent contacts. As long as your program is personal or professional development, you qualify for this network. You also have to be charging a fee that you can pay commissions from. If that fits your profile, I hope you’ll join us in Atlanta! (at least on Saturday!)
Thanks for your question, JD.

Steve,
I am a youth minister who has been working with youth since 1991 and I am in the process of putting together a student leadership program. The program would be appropriate for all kinds of people regardless of religious affiliation and even for those with no affiliation.
I am not sure how much of the program I will have developed by July. Also, I will only be able to attend Saturday since I work on Sunday’s. My question is do you still think that it is worth attending and presenting even though the entire program may not be complete?

Henry, I think it would be well worth it to attend even for one day. Both days are PACKED with speeches and mini-speeches designed to attract referral agents. EVERYONE with a personal or professional development product/program who attends will have a chance to meet people who can refer them. We’re also working on a plan to expand into the U.K. as quickly as possible, and we will need leaders to help. I’m hoping my other friend from Gibraltar, (Ken Castiel) will also be attending in Atlanta.
Hope you decide to join us, Henry. I promise it will be worth the trip!

Hey Steve,
I think your idea is tremendous and as a motivational coach working in Europe I very much want to be on board.
I will make every effort to be in Atlanta but I would have to miss the first day of the 2 day meeting. I know whats not good, but in your professional opinion, how bad is it?
I would be looking to break into the US market and would love to be able to showcase my abilities and even share some of my european contacts with other US counterparts.
I live in Gibraltar by the way, just touching the southern tip of Spain!

Katie,
Yes, we actually have a number personal development fans attending the event in Atlanta who are not speakers, nor do they want to be. They just want to make a living helping people by promoting their favorite speakers.
And yes, there will be training on how to market and sell speaking, training, consulting and coaching. Usually, speakers are the stars at meetings. Our concept is to make the referral agents the stars, because they are the people generating the business. All the speakers we’ve booked for for Atlanta so far are THRILLED with the concept! They’ve been telling me all week that they just want to speak and help people improve their lives, and they know good referral agents are the key. By the time you leave Atlanta, you’ll know EXACTLY how to be a world class referral agent. The way we have the system set up, it’s very simple and straightforward. The agents don’t have to sell, all they have to do is refer. That way the speakers can sell their own program. Your job is to open the door.
Thanks for your excellent question, Katie. I’m looking forward to meeting you in Atlanta!
All the best,
Steve

Hi Steve! I missed the call so thanks for posting a recorded synopsis! On the recording, you said attendance to Atlanta does not guarantee membership for speakers and auditions will follow.
I am not a speaker and just an enthused personal development fan so does attendance allow me to get contracted as a referral agent or are there criterias to be met to be a successful referral agent? Better yet, will the meeting also have discussions about how to market your fav public speaker as a referral agent?
thanks!!

Yea, we already have speakers registered that represent the public, corporate and association markets. The church market is huge and I beleive you’ll have a lot of people interested in signing referral contracts to serve this sector.
See you in Atlanta, Chuck!

Pirie,
For privacy reasons, we probably won’t send out a list of attendees. Most people don’t mind, but we’ve run into problems in the past. It’s another issue we’ll discuss with the group in Atlanta, and if the members are willing to sign off on it, we’ll do it. We’re going to have an extensive members-only area of the website where members can post their profiles. That way we can all contact each other outside of the meetings to do deals! You gotta love technology! Members will also be able to post their audtion videos to submit to the network board for upcoming SSN meetings, and also for other members to see and decide whether they want to sign a referral contract with him/her. The possibilities are endless. I honestly beleive this is the future of the speaking/trraining/consulting/coaching industry. Everyone wins, and everyone works and makes money. No politics, egos, or other BS. Let’s just do business together! Good to hear from you,
Kiwi man! Look forward to seeing you in Atlanta!

Joan,
We’re still working on the details of who will be speaking. We probably won’t open it up for audtions for this meeting, but in future meetings we’re going to hold video audtions that will be judged by a board of 5 senior executives from Fortune 500 companies. These execs hire speakers all the time and know what they’re looking for. More info on all of this in Atlanta. That being said, bring your contracts (or you can use ours at the meeting) to Atlanta. We’re going to make sure everyone has a chance to meet one another and do as many deals as possible during the 2 days. I’ll have more info on this as we get closer to July. Thanks for telling your colleagues about it. we still have seats left for Atlanta. We’ll cap it at 200 people for this meeting, but later on I can see us having thousands of people meeting three times per year, all doing deals together. Wouldn’t that be awesome!? Thanks for your questions, Joan! See you in Atlanta!

Hi Steve,
I’ve already signed up for the conference and I’ve notified other speaker colleagues who might be interested.
My questions are:
Should we come prepared to offer referral contracts?
You say just 20 people out of 200 will speak during the conference (and that makes sense). How does one get to be one of those 20?
If you have something to sell, what is appropriate to bring?
How do we find out about the conference agenda, etc.
Thanks!
Joan

I want to thank everyone for being on the call last night. I was so pumped up afterwards I couldn’t sleep. The possibilities for all of us are almost endless with this concept. I have the feeling a lot of people locked into that last night.
I apppreicate all the kudos afterwards on this blog. After preparing for the call for the last 8 months, it felt good. Thanks for taking the time. Jon,
Good question regarding international members. We already have speakers registered for the Atlanta event from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Gove-Siebold Group, (our company) has partners around the world with the capability of expanding into all these countries, as well as others. This will be part of the discussion in Atlanta, and I think what will happen is we will officially launch in the U.S., and within a few months open up in the UK, Canada, and Australia. Once we’ve made the last little tweaks in the process, I see no reason we can’t move very quickly to bring this concept to our speaker friends who are looking for referral agents in their native country. Some speakers will want to also do deals in the U.S., because the fees are the highest in the world. But we are going to be very aggressive internationally, especially because we have world class business partners already in place in all these countries.
Thanks for asking that question, Jon! We had speakers from 11 different countries on the call last night, so I know other people were wondering about that.
Steve Siebold 1:38 pm on May 1, 2009 Permalink
Revti,
Yes, you can attend the event if you’re not speaking. We’re limiting the event to 200 people, and there will probably be 20 speakers who will present onstage. We’re going to have additional opportunities (besides speaking onstage) for attendees to promote their products and programs…not to sell to the group, but to persuade the group to sign a referral agent contract to represent them. Thanks for being on the call and for your question, Revti. Hope to see you in Atlanta!
Steve Siebold 1:32 pm on May 1, 2009 Permalink
Ria,
Yes, you can give the same lead to more than one speaker if it’s appropriate. It’s your contact, so you can decide. The network won’t interfere, be involved, nor take any revenue generated from the deals done between members. We’re simply here to organize the events and assist the members.
Thanks for your question, Ria! Hope to see you in Atlanta!

Chuck, The system may have gotten a little clogged up last night. We had almost 800 people on the conference call, and a lot of people signed up immediately afterwards. Look forward to seeing you in Atlanta July 11-12!

New speakers are welcome at this event. You’re the future of this business, and this network is designed to give you a platform to launch your career. When you attend the meeting in July, you’ll see what it takes to get on stage. We’re going to walk everyone through the audtion process step by step, and we’re going to have corporate executives speak on exactly what they are looking for when they hire speakers. The idea is to take the guess work out of of this business and give you a road map to succeed.

Kevin,
Yes, any speaker, trainer, coach or consultant…or even fans of personal development who are interested in representing their favorite speakers have a home here.
